Adorable and Good Quality Just received, washed, dried and installed this in the nursery for my son who will be arriving (hopefully) in a few weeks. The whole set was laundered on the delicate cycle in cold water with a sprinkle or two of baking soda and a dribble of All, then tumbled dry on low.
PROS:
* Each little ocean friend is embroidered in a different fabric with a different texture, making this (I imagine) very attractive to little hands. I like it anyway.
* The bumper is very well-padded and the perfect size for the inside of a standard square crib -- no fuss, no muss. The batting stood up to a wash and dry without bunching. Very impressive.
* The sheet (and everything else) is 100% cotton and laundered to a very soft finish. The sheet fit my Sealy Baby Posturepedic Crib Mattresscrib mattress perfectly. No shrinkage.
* The workmanship, color-fastness and image quality are consistent across the board; each piece matches perfectly with the others -- nothing looks "off".
CONS:
* The bumper ties are 8" long -- a smidge too short for parts of my crib. I have an Simplicity Ellis 4-In-1 Convertible Sleep System Finish: Cherry crib that has fairly thick posts, so on the corners I had to get creative. This is really only an issue at the uppermost setting of the mattress height. I think as I have to lower the mattress for Junior's growth, the ties should be able to fit around the slats in the crib. As long as you don't have thick posts on your crib, you should be fine.
* The fitted sheet is very thin. You can see your hand through it, as well as a vague outline of the print on the mattress. I have the Basic Comfort Ultimate Crib Sheet, so this is just really an aesthetic issue for me, but it appears that this one little fitted sheet will not be enough for anyone who doesn't, and will probably not launder many times without considerable wear.
* The set only comes with one window valance. A minor quibble, but an irritation all the same. I must now buy a second; the nursery has two windows side-by-side which need to be paneled.
* You will need to iron the pieces you launder. 100% cotton wrinkles a bit.
Not really a "con" -- more of a heads-up: This set has way more green in it than the product image reveals. Since the image is the set in a blue room surrounded by blue accessories and the items are strategically placed, you get the visual impression that the set is mostly white with touches of blue and sage green. Not so. It's mostly sage green with touches of blue and white. For our needs, it was perfect. We wanted something gender neutral so we wouldn't have to buy bedding for our second child if it ends up being a girl. It's still gorgeous and fun, even though it's more green than I'd anticipated.
I would certainly purchase this set again. Very cute and well made.
Greatest Product Ever! I bought mine at baby's-r-us but wanted to write a review none the less. After my mom & I bouncing, rocking, rolling, collapsing, etc. about 20 different strollers and car seats, we/I finally picked this one.
The special kicker was when, after about 30 min in store not only 1 random stranger said it was the greatest system she'd ever used (and we were testing these for about 2 hours) but 1.5 hours in, another lady walked by with hers and said it was the greatest too.
Im pretty short and not that strong and was 8 months along when trying to lift and move it, and I found it quite easy to collapse the stroller and re-stand it. Its extreamly sturdy and balanced as I naturally think about side to side tipping, etc. Here are some pros I found that made this FAR SUPERIOR to all the others we tested, including Graco, Evenflo, Gerber, etc.
-car seat snaps into stroller in 3 places and has a buckle to tie it to it as well, if you want to use it. I liked this since not only could you not tip the seat out front ways but it would not move side to side either. This was a problem on most travel systems we found.
-the try on the front of the stroller not only has slides to remove for ease of getting your kiddo out, but can be removed entirely, if desired. ALL the other strollers only let this pivot to one side so it was attached even if you didnt want it. Also, on this part and the back by the pushing arm have cup holders with inserts that can be removed and put in the dishwasher. A total plus to not have to get into those nooks & crannys too. The push arm bar is also completely repositionable for short or tall people.
-all the cloths, in both the stroller and carseat are removable to wash. None of the others we tested would come off completely so this was a big bonus that I wouldnt have to hand wash or try to get into nooks & crannys.
-comes with infant support items like the usual terry cloth puffy neck guard thing that most of the time you would need to buy separate. Its already attached straight out of the box so you dont have to fuss with it, incase your little one comes early.
-the only thing to "assemble" was the stroller and that was pretty much only attacing the wheels and the top visor. It took all of 10 min maybe.
-where you see plastic, on the outside, there is metal on the inside. This is quite reassuring that if in a car accident or anything that the frames and all will remain sturdy and safe.
-price was a factor, but my mom put it to me this way, for an extra 100ish dollars (since I had been looking at 100-150 gracos and things at walmart) you could know that cleaning was easier, its sturdyer, and reccomended highly by people with several children (the two women had 3 &6 kids respectively) who had used other makes and said this one was the best.
Long story short- BUY THIS ONE FOR A BIT MORE MONEY THAN ANOTHER! YOU WONT REGRET IT!
Works Not much to review here. It's a fitted bedsheet for the snuggle nest mattress. Fits the mattress good and the baby doesn't really care about threadcount :-)
So no complaints...
Perfect for what it is We are on our third Volo. (The first was misrouted by an airline gate agent, and the second I backed over -- while it was empty! -- with my car.) We keep buying them because they are ideal travel strollers: super, super light, no bells and whistles, and easy to collapse and reassemble. While holding my two-year-old, I can use my one free hand to grab the stroller, hoist it out of the trunk, and unfold and lock it. Ditto for the reverse process. While this admittedly took some practice, the fact that it is possible at all is a huge convenience.
Our latest Volo shows some slight tweaks and improvements over the older models: the best of these is a stroller buckle that now requires a pinch on BOTH sides to unfasten. This is a feature that has arrived just in time to thwart my budding Houdini.
doesn't fit These outlet covers do not fit traditional outlets. Notice that there are 2 screw holes--one on top and one on bottom. They did not line up with the standard outlet screw holes. Better to go with a brand that has one screw hole in the middle, as is typical of most outlet covers.
